How it Started

Common Thread Ministries was founded by Mark Mirza in the mid-2000s by starting with a Bible study among interior design professionals that evolved into a desire to continue building the foundations of prayer. His background as a leader of the Sons of Thunder Power Team, under Dr. Charles Stanley, fueled his passion for teaching prayer. Mark then spent the next 20 years dedicating himself to educating individuals across various sectors—including churches and political leaders—about the significance of prayer on a local and global scale. Mark ministered to elected officials in his home state and in Washington, D.C., helping to bear their burdens, and emphasize a non-political approach to his work. In 2024, after Mark and his wife Naida felt led to retire to Italy, Common Thread Ministries was handed over to new leadership. Regardless of the location - the local church, a board room, City Hall, or the congressional offices- the vision for Common Thread Ministries has never been lost: “Rebuilding the Foundations of Prayer” (Psalm 11:3) and serving God’s people in helping them to develop a deeper level of prayer.

Meet the Team

  • Kevin Scarbrough

    CEO

In my role at Common Thread Ministries, I am honored to lead others into a deeper, more meaningful dialogue with God through prayer. It’s a mission that resonates deeply with me, compelling me to engage the world in prayer and to live out a commitment to faithfulness in all aspects of life.

  • Greg Nicholaides

    CFO

I met Mark Mirza in 2008 at First Baptist Atlanta and shortly thereafter was pleased to serve Common Thread Ministries. Being raised in a Christian home, the world defined me during my time in the Army and later within the corporate world. With a cancer diagnosis 20 years ago, God got my attention and He has kept it ever since.

  • Joe Fowler

    POLITICAL DIRECTOR

As a board member of a non-profit, I began praying with Mark Mirza about 7 years ago.  I have followed Mark and CTM with interest since then. God gave me a desire to encourage and mentor.  I believe prayer is a great way to do that.  As I pray with others, I ask God to speak to them and reveal His love for them.

Join us in prayer, today.
